Private Installation LessonsWhether you are pregnant with your 1st child or your 5th, learning how to use your child's car seat properly is always a smart choice. Even if you are positive you installed it properly, it's still best to get it checked since we find that only about 1 in 100 seats are used properly.
Why set up a lesson?
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 3 to 14. Our lessons are one hour out of your life, but could mean the difference between life and death for your child. AVOID REGRETS!! Make sure your child safety seat is properly installed AND make sure you know how to use it properly!!
Where are the lessons?
We offer private car seat installation lessons in Baltimore and two locations in NYC.
What happens at the lesson?
Each class lasts approximately one hour and is a private, one-on-one lesson with your vehicle/s and the car seat/s. Here's what happens at the lesson:
1. We will teach you how to install the car seat properly in your vehicle. You will leave with the seat properly installed AND the knowledge of how to install it should it come out.
2. We will teach you how to secure the child properly in the harness straps and how to adjust the car seat as your child grows. If you are pregnant we will use a newborn size doll to practice.
3. If you are using an infant carrier, we we will show you how to secure the carrier without the base for times when you are traveling in other vehicles, like taxis or rental cars.
What if you don't own a car?
Many NYC parents who meet with us do not own a vehicle - you are welcome to rent a Zipcar or borrow a friend's car for the lesson - and we will teach you how to use your car seat properly so you will feel comfortable installing it in any vehicle you might ride in - be it a taxi, rental car, or friend's car.
